Hillary Clinton Says She Wonã¢â‚¬â„¢t Run for Public Office Again: i Am Done With Being a Candidate

In parts of the speech shared with TODAY, Clinton shares the remarks she had prepared if she had won the contentious election confronting Trump.
"My fellow Americans, today you sent a bulletin to the whole world," she says. "Our values suffer. Our republic stands strong. And our motto remains: e pluribus unum. Out of many, one.
"Nosotros will not be defined just by our differences. We volition not be an us versus them country. The American dream is large enough for anybody. Through a long, hard campaign, we were challenged to choose between two very different visions for America. How we grow together, how we live together, and how we confront a globe full of peril and hope together.
"Fundamentally, this ballot challenged usa to decide what it means to be an American in the 21st century. And for reaching for a unity, decency, and what President Lincoln called 'the better angels of our nature.' We met that claiming."
Clinton then talks about the significance of what becoming the offset female president in U.S. history would have meant.
"Today with your children on your shoulders, your neighbors at your side, friends one-time and new continuing as i, you renewed our democracy," she says. "And because of the laurels you lot have given me, yous have changed its face forever. I've met women who were born before women had the right to vote. They've been waiting a hundred years for this night.
"I've met little boys and girls who didn't empathize why a woman has never been president before. At present they know, and the earth knows, that in America, every boy and every girl can abound up to be any they dream — even president of the United States.
"This is a victory for all Americans. Men and women. Boys and girls. Considering as our country has proven in one case again, when at that place are no ceilings, the sky'southward the limit."
She also addresses the deep partisan divide in the country.
"If you dig deep enough through all the mud of politics, somewhen you hit something difficult and true," she says. "A foundation of fundamental values that unite the states as Americans. You proved that today.
"In a country divided past race and religion, class and culture, and often paralyzing partisanship, a broad coalition of Americans embraced a shared vision of a hopeful, inclusive, big-hearted America.
"An America where women are respected and immigrants are welcomed. Where veterans are honored, parents are supported, and workers are paid fairly. An America where nosotros believe in scientific discipline, where we wait beyond people'south disabilities and see their possibilities, where wedlock is a right and discrimination is incorrect. No matter who you are, what yous expect like, where yous come from, or who you lot love.
"An America where everyone counts and everyone has a identify. A place and a purpose. Because we all accept a office to play in our bully American story. And yes, that absolutely includes everyone who voted for other candidates or who didn't vote at all."
Clinton then speaks about her female parent, Dorothy Howell Rodham, who died in 2011.
